Yesterday, the Tesla boss unveiled a new vehicle to add to his fleet, a driverless car that is purported to make you money while you sleep.
During the firm’s ‘We, Robot’ event, Musk showcased the car with plans to get them on the roads as early as 2026.
The vehicle has no steering wheel or pedals and is designed to fully autonomously drive.
Musk has been talking about driverless cars for nearly a decade now and while many are excited to finally see progress on the development, others are more skeptical.
One YouTuber in particular, Jerry Rig Everything, whose technology reviews have earned him nearly nine million subscribers, has been vocal about his criticism of the billionaire.
Taking to Musk’s social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Jerry wrote: “Any journalist or YouTuber who covers this event *without* disclaiming that Elons been making the same fruitless autonomy claims for a decade now isn’t doing their job.”
Jerry was also critical of Musk’s newly announced Cybervan, a fully autonomous robovan that can carry up to 20 people.
Some have likened it to looking like a toaster, with big glass sliding doors and its body covering the wheels and nearly touching the road.
It could serve as a driverless cargo van, ferry sports teams or even run as a school bus.
Unimpressed with the innovation, YouTuber Jerry shared an image of the Cybervan on X in another post, adding: “Personally, I think they should finish the Roadster from 7 years ago before teasing the dorkbus 9000 but to each their own.”

This prompted replies from other users, with one person writing: “This event gave zero info about anything specifics. Range, nothing about this new charging. It’s like he didn’t even want to say much.”
While another said: “Damn dude, who hurt you? The future should be fun.”
Musk has said that Tesla is aiming to keep the cost of the Cybercab below $30,000.
When talking about the new vehicles being put into production in 2026, the billionaire paused before adding, ‘before 2027’.
Musk then said: “I tend to be a little optimistic with timeframes.”
He added: “It’s going to be a glorious future.”
