U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled the “Gold Card” Immigration Program, allowing wealthy investors to buy a fast-track path to U.S. citizenship for $5 million. Announced from the Oval Office, the premium alternative to the Green Card aims to attract high-net-worth individuals while generating billions in government revenue.

The Gold Card replaces the EB-5 Investor Visa, which required a $800,000 to $1.8 million investment and the creation of U.S. jobs. Trump criticized the EB-5 program as outdated, emphasizing the Gold Card will be a more efficient and profitable option.

Trump even suggested selling up to 10 million Gold Cards to reduce the national deficit. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick supported the move, calling the EB-5 program “ridiculous.”

While details are still emerging, Trump described the Gold Card as a prestigious residency option for wealthy investors and top talents, offering a direct path to U.S. citizenship without the need to create jobs.
